Physical Description: Black Rose has thick black fur, and her markings are few. Her left forefoot is white, she has a white streak resembling lightning on her belly, and the very tip of her tail is white. Those are her only markings. Her ears stand up, with only the tips turning down. Her jaws are extremely strong, quite capable of cracking a bone with ease. Her eyes are golden brown, and her face is expressive, with silky, short black fur, unlike the longer, coarser fur along her body. Her legs are long and strong, built like a wolf's, giving her the wolf's tireless lope. Her chest is wide and strong- good for pulling or running, and her muscles are very well developed and extremely strong.

Story:    Genetically enhanced with the DNA from humans, elves, sharks, wyverlyns, and sicarrinns, Black Rose is a powerful, swift, and deadly weapon- as she was meant to be. Also called Sage, this canine can survive almost anything. The sicarrinn in her makes her able to survive both ice and heat. Fire doesn't bother her- in fact, too much heat can make her almost 'high'. The elven DNA in her gives her the ability to regenerate, and the shark in her gives her gills, so she can survive underwater. She is incredibly fast and strong, and absolutely massive. She does have her share of weaknesses- ostracism being her main one. She could be considered either a dumb, slow-witted person, or an extremely smart canine. Most people view her as the latter.

    Black Rose and her littermates- two sisters and two brothers- were made by a human couple who wanted the ultimate war machine. They took a servant's mutt- Dusk, and a local wolf who had been a legend for quite a while- Shadow Hunter, and mated them. Dusk was mostly Border Collie, Maremma Sheepdog, Black Lab, and American Bulldog, but she had some other breeds in her, as well. Shadow Hunter was one-hundred percent timber wolf- although large and heavy for the species. The couple were abusive to the pups, especially the strongest- Sage and one of her brothers. Eventually, they all escaped and went out on their own.

    Sage escaped when she was six-months old. She wandered far and wide, making close friendships with some humans. The dog in her was dominant at that time, but soon things changed. She was accepted into the Defenders of Avalon, but soon saw no more of them, although she still wears their pendant.  After being repeatedly shot at, and nearly killed several times, she resolved never to trust people again. However, after being attacked by acidic creatures, one man- Lance Longoria- saved her life. She became closely attached to him, and became, in essence, his dog.

    Then, nearly full grown and six years old, she was a one-man dog. She would trust no one else as much as she trusted Lance, and gave her love so completely to none other. His home was her home, and she wiould visciously attack anyone who threatened Lance, and only Lance in all her life had had the power to call her off, even when she was fighting for him. Every once in a while, she went off to explore, but she always came back home. After one such excursion, she came back to discover Lance had disappeared. She looked for him for nearly a year before discovering that he was dead. During this searching period, she made several strong two-legger friendships, and sought to protect them much as she had tried to protect Lance. She blames herself for not being there when Lance died, wondering if there was something she could have done.

    The time after discovering Lance's death was tumultous for Sage. She was captured by a zoo, and it would seem that she could never escape human medelling and genetic engineering, for she was artificially inseminated. More than half of the pups died during pregnancy, unable to survive in the heat of her body, but two of the pups survived. Sage is extrememly protective of these pups because of what they endured in the zoo until they escaped. The escape cost many humans their lives, taken by a half-crazed, half-starved Sage.

    One pup, the male, has black fur covering him with no other colorings, and illuminated brown eyes. He is much larger than the other pup, and much larger than other normal pups, as well, developing and maturing at a fast rate. His name is Etasean, but he is also called Dusk Shadow. He has one eccentricity that can be picked out right away- from just behind either shoulder, there grows a feathered black wing in proportion to his massive body size. He is strongly influenced by the genetic characteristics passed on to him by Sage: those of sicarrinn, wyverlyn, and shark. The sicarrinn influence shows in the way he tries to eat everything and is thereby extremely aggressive. The wyverlyn influence shows in his utmost confidence in himself and his extreme perseverence to get what he wants.

    The other pup, Adraem, also called Gray Rose, is a much smaller female with silvery gray fur and white markings. Her build is lithe as opposed to her brother's blocky build, and her golden brown eyes are much calmer and more intelligent, almost unnerving in their gaze. In Adraem, the foreign characteristics are those of sicarrinn, elven, and human. The elven and human in her dominate the rest, giving her the unnerving intelligence she possesses, even in her wolven body.

    In another twist of fate, with Etasean swiftly growing, and Adraem beginning to show her extraordianry intelligence, Sage found out some extremely good news. Lance, who she thought was dead, was in fact still alive. Now reunited with the one man with complete mastery over her, her life is good- living with her two pups and her best and truest friend- a two-legger.
