You appear on a coast. Below
and behind you, there are jagged rocks, perfect to smash a ship to pieces.
Looking around, you can see that the land is peaceful. Birds sing, and the
tall grass waves gently in the breeze. There seems to be no life in this
part of the land, but you figure that someone must live here. Looking behind
you once again, you can see a rippling blue circle- the portal you stepped
through to get here. You feel a hand on your shoulder and whirl around to
face an elf. This elf seems to be very old. He beckons you into the land-
into a forest you can see from here. If you do not want to explore this land,
you might as well step right back through that portal from whence you came.
To explore a mystery, you can come with the wise old elf, who even now stands
and beckons you urgently.
Once you are inside the
forest, the elf leads you up a tree to stand on a small platform. The elf
hands you a piece of fruit, and begins talking. "You are lucky I found you.
I can see the difference between a warrior and a simple, lost traveler. Some
of our warriors cannot. Since you are lost, I would tell you of this land
you are in, but I mayn't talk long. I will be brief. It is my home, and the
home of many friends and other species. This land is called Rinara," the elf
says.
"Wouldst thou learn more about
Rinara? Then come- I will lead you to the Mahae Towae, where thou shalt learn
all thou needst and wantest to know, and thou shalt be safe." The elf jumps
down from the tree, pulling you after him, and starts walking, leading you.
After a walk through the woods,
you come to a simple stone tower. A door faces you, and here the elf stops.
"Now, if you choose, you may
step into the great Mahae Towae, to learn more of Rinara," the elf tells you.
A World That Has Gone Past
Off to the yonder
Past every known sea,
Is a land that you will
ponder
For it has all that you need.
But you will wonder
'Is this all life will be?'
For you will blunder
Because for now, life is
a seed.
It may grow beyond another
Past all those that won't
heed.
For the innocence of life,
Perfectly preserved and held,
Is a gift that no one knows
of
For they haven't the will.
Except the ones who live
In this land of which I spoke
For there they can always
be
Children, innocent as can
be.
