Created
solely for the comfort of the few travelers they get from other realms, this
building can be seen on a hill looking over the village of Torque. However,
one of the strange things about it is that it seems to be in more than one
realm at once, none intersecting. It is used mostly as a gathering place
for Rinaryn young people in the village of Torque, after the time of stories
around the fire. It is not well known, except by those inhabiting Rinara,
for it is the only tavern/inn in Rinara. It is a simple, yet strangely attracting
log building.
Built ages
ago, it needs no more than a few touch ups every couple of years to keep
it looking as it did when it was built, for Rinaryns know almost as much,
if not the same, as the elves do about trees. They also know how to build.
The doorway is built with one side straight, and the rest curved. Yet, the
door fits snuggly with its doorway. The Rinaryn who built it, Old Kileies,
used two styles when he made it, consistent with the Rinaryn culture and
their love of strangeness. The lower level, with the bar, looks like it is
made of just boards. The upper level looks like it was made of round logs,
from the outside. Inside they both have smooth walls. The higher level's
windows are big, as they are in the lower level. The windows are low to the
ground in the lower level.
Behind the
bar counter is a small canal, which has two parts separating the waters of
the Li rires and the Li treamres which are detoured through
the tavern, though they rejoin the main waters later. This tavern hosts
a great number of many drinks, including some of the strongest known. Kileies
used a type of salve, or jello-y like substance that comes from a certain
plant in Rinara, which counters some of the effects of the alcoholic drinks.
Thus his guests may drink with greatly reduced risks to their health. Kileies
also made the sign for the Ellewyn, which hangs from a tall pole outside
the tavern/inn. The symbol that Kileies chose for the Ellewyn is a great,
white tree with silver leaves, and underneath this image is the name- 'Ellewyn
Tavern'.
Kileies,
the original owner of the tavern, disappeared sometime before the devastating
attack of the Darks on the village of Torque. Afterwards, seeing that the
tavern needed someone to run it, Quamada took over. She now makes sure
the tavern is clean and has all the supplies it needs. She happens to be
especially good at bargaining for Daelite, which can only be gotten from
dragons. However, she is still learning all the marvels of the Ellewyn.
Come, and
see for yourself!
